Okavango delta cultural tour - daily itinerary

Day 1

At 6:30am, after a full breakfast, you will be picked up from your lodge by our wonderful professional guide. Packed lunch and beverages are carried with us on our 3-hour drive to Okavango’s Sepopa Boat Station —the main boat connection into our destination, the Seronga’s Mbiroba Camp Site. Have your camera ready to capture views of the famous Tsodilo Hills and clusters of traditional villages, all from the comfort of our safari vehicle. The focus for this safari is the beautiful aquatic and bird life of the region. Also expect to see grunting hippos, crocodiles, and perhaps an elephant coming down to drink.

In the afternoon, we will do a sunset mokoro canoe expedition to one of the area’s most beautiful islands before heading back to the camp to get refreshed and enjoy dinner. An optional night game drive after dinner is offered at no extra cost.

Day 2
Rise and shine for an early breakfast, after which we’re off on a guided bushwalk in search of the birds that call these islands home — especially the African skimmers that lays their eggs on the water. Around 11:30am, we turn back to the campsite for a lovely brunch. Please note that we bring light snacks and tea along for every activity.

After a siesta, it’s time for tea around 15:30 before we go explore islands from the comfort of our safari vehicle. Around 17:00, we start watching the sun fade in the spillways while sipping a glass of a cold wine or beer (or apple juice). Back at camp, dinner under the stars is waiting for us.

Day 3
Early breakfast, then we’re off on foot into the true African bush, led by local river people — Hambukushu hunters. Around 10:30, we turn our feet back to camp for brunch before packing up our campsite. From there, we head into the village for a unique cultural opportunity to interact directly with locals. Each and every Unlimited Tours & Safaris guest can participate in the huge variety of traditional cultural activities that take place in the village.
